THE GUN JUST AIN'T LOADED - Just A Minute Radio for Monday 7/13/09

            Howdy once again… at the beginning of a week….

 

            It’s a tough thing to take on a job you know is going to beat you down even before you start. I think that’s what Dr. Francis Collins is in for as he begins to head up the Human Genome Project. Dr. Collins is an outspoken Christian – and although the admires the work done on “intelligent design” he thinks it has its flaws.

 

            But the flaw Dr. Collins is likely to run into as he enters White House service is that of “nothing” … i.e. nothing happening.

 

            During the campaign I recall people being enthralled with Mr. Obama inviting Pastor Rick Warren to share a couple of hours of debate at Saddle Back Mt. Church. But not a whole lot has happened since. The President cut loose the limits President Bush had put on human embryonic stem-cell research last March. Not much was heard from the Christian community about it.

 

            Additionally Mr. Obama was ostentatiously invited to address the graduating class of Notre Dame. He good naturedly groused about not getting a warm welcome at a western university – but the Catholic church went along with honoring a man who’s cast himself repeatedly as opposed to banning abortions – even late term abortions.

 

            Basically it’s come down to talk without the walk. And Unfortunately Dr. Collins – whom I do not know – but I suspect he does not suspect he’s being ‘used’ as camouflage for the Obama Administration to hide behind as they go on without fulfilling the apparent direction they were ostensibly planning to take. Kind of a hand is quicker than the eye game.

 

            Well… Psalm 37 – one of my favorites you probably have heard me say – tells us not to fret over the antics of evildoers. So I won’t … and you shouldn’t either. All those things will be fully repaid as they should be --- Jesus says so.

THE GUN JUST AIN’T LOADED

Just A Minute – It’s not likely Dr. Francis Collins – new head of the Human Genome Project, and an outspoken Christian -- author of “The Language of God” will find a lot to chat about with his neighbors at 1600 Pennsylvania. Dr. Collins is repeatedly at odds with the atheist-biologist, Richard Dawkins, it won’t hurt Mr. Obama's effort to improve his standing with Christian conservatives. They are easily deceived.

Liberals can sleep well knowing the new guy will have no say in the issue of human embryonic stem cell research since the Obama Administration already cancelled President Bush's limits there last March.

Essentially this is just another whitewash gestures the man from Illinois likes to make, but not follow – such as having Pastor Rick Warren speak at his inaugural; or addressing the graduates at Notre Dame. There’s just no follow up to those actions when it comes to Presidential policies.

And, unfortunately while Dr. Collins is a symbol of the so-called Obama centerism, it evaporates when it comes to political clout – a lesson Dr. Collins will likely soon learn.
