AND IN THE ON-DECK CIRCLE... Just A Minute Radio for Wednesday 07-08-09

            Howdy Once Again…

Once more the news troughs seem to fill up to overflowing not just at peak times but all the time – and we have to pick and choose what we need to hear, read or watch – and even more so as Christians, to pay attention to what enters through the eye and ear gates.

At times the noise just seems deafening – and it’s tough to pick out the things we need to know from the junk… So… we just try and hold the boat steady for a while. One of the most deadening things is the perpetual political meaning every news-reader and editor wants to put on every story. I can sure get along without that. I’m glad we have you with us – I’ll try not to be overbearing with what I say or write – Just trying to stick with what seems to be important and at times overlooked in this present world.

So I’d love to have more comments and communication than I seem to get. I’m not exactly lonely… there’s enough to read and listen to – but I want to be interested in what interests you – and I look forward to hearing from you. I can’t always get a response back to you right away – but I’ll do my best – and in this crazy atmosphere of “too much information to process” at times I want to be a calm voice that speaks thoughtfully and spiritually – and would appreciate your prayers to that goal.             Our son Kim, used to be a white-water river guide on the New River in West Virginia. And Barbara and I took a ride with him down an “adventurous” section of rapids several years ago. We found out that paddling, according to the guide’s instructions, was the best, and least frightning activity we could carry on. We still remember it well. I compare it with the kind of ‘rapids’ I think our society needs to be aware of for the foreseeable future. It’s not awful, certain destruction – but it will be adventurous. Barbara said after the first set of rapids: “I decided if I was going to drown it might as well be when I was paddling hard… and I found my fear went away.”  And as Christians, we have the very best ‘whitewater’ guide who knoweth the way that we take AND is able to do exceedingly above all that we can ask or think.

Hang on to those words dear friends – but more importantly hang on to the one who says them and we’ll all come out safely on the other side.

            Cordially, IN HIM

            Jack
