HE SAYS IT, BUT IT COMES OUT DIFFERENTLY -- JUST A MINUTE Radio for Friday July 10th 2009

Hello Again… Indeed it is Friday…

And we’re right here movin’ toward the middle of Summer. My rather-sparse-to-begin-with grass is getting more so. Frankly, I’ve never been a great lawn gardener. Ever since I pushed a reel-mower on Sherwood Avenue, growin’ up in Roanoke, Virginia – I never saw the wisdom in making grass grow taller and faster so you could cut it more often. Plus I learned how to sweat, which meant I was looking for the shade in the summer – or a tall glass of lemonade.

It’s an interesting thing – language. How quickly people forget what they said – about things like: “This is going to be the most transparent administration … “We’re going to have all legislation posted where everyone can read it for at least five days before it’s being voted on.”  Well… that’s been more honored in the breach than the observance.

We’ve had at least two ‘bills’ of legislation that were too large to be read never mind studied – and passed by the House in direct non-observance of those assurances.

Plus I’m just plain wary of the “I’m a citizen of the world” tack Candidate Obama took during his campaign trip that made a slice through Germany where he intended to speak from the Brandenburg Gate… but German protocol said him nay – that it is reserved for speeches made by heads of state and he was but a candidate. So… now that he is THE PRESIDENT OF THE W… no … that’s not right… not yet…

Let’s pull in our horns a bit and look at things in perspective – abandoning the rose-colored prism’s for a while. We’re in a huge hole of debt… and it’s going to be a long time getting out… our currency may become worthless as it did in the failing days of the Weimar Republic. Oh, don’t put us through that financial wringer.

The Nation hungers for leadership – not partisanship – but genuine leadership – Under God. That in all sincerity is what we need and the need seems to grow bigger and more urgent day by day. May the Lord bless us all!

Could I suggest you *will* receive a blessing from the Lord if you take down that Bible you have and read Psalm 37. I’ve found it to be *very* reassuring during pressure times… and this is one of those times.

God bless you – IN HIM

            Cordially,

            Jack and Barbara Buttram

“JUST A MINUTE”

HE SAYS IT, BUT COMES OUT DIFFERENT?

Just A Minute – Here’s Matt Yglesias, on intimidating Iran“BOMB, BOMB, BOMB… but the liberal blogger says Mrs. Palin’s view of Israel’s self-defense is “absurd.” Said she’s ignoring ‘reality’ -- just repeating Israeli “buzz-words.”

Palin had said the President shouldn't be “second-guessing" Israeli policy – But when Biden then made clear what Israel does or doesn’t do should be decided in Tel Aviv, not Washington.

The Palin position last year has now become precisely what Obama and Biden say this year: (quote) “Diplomacy is the optimal way of dealing with the Iranian nuclear threat, but if it fails, Israel has a right to defend itself.”

Matt charged Palin with repeating Israel’s mantra but said her position is “stupid.” -- Says she can't run away from the fact her position is stupid. But when Biden says essentially the same thing, Matt says people just aren’t smart enough to understand the Veep’s deeply subtle thinking. … Palin gets hammered – liberals get a pass for language with the same meaning.

It’s Alice in Wonderland all over again… only the Obama VP gets to play the Mad Hatter.
