One more time…
The line at the top of this story is a famous one from Wm. Shakespeare’s HENRY V play when Prince Hal, now wearing the crown of
Shakespeare cannot resist getting in a few jabs and observations as he meditates about the vagaries of war and how God uses it as his “beadle” – an object of correction – and also how powerless the king himself is to win the day unless his troops will cheerfully follow him into battle.
He does – they do – and King Henry finds his bride upon the French soil… and according to the story that is why we speak English today instead of French.
