NO MATTER WHAT YOU CALL IT -- IT'S COLD -- Just A Minute Radio for Wed. 02-03-10

Brrrr… Cold enough for me. How about you?

Today the crowd at Earl ‘n’ Lester’s Bait Shop and Sushi Bar  on the ‘Caroliner Line’ are warming themselves by the pot bellied stove waiting for the Super Bowl – much to Miz Pearlie’s dismay.  She thinks it’s disrespectful to talk about sports in the presence of ladies…especially those rough sports like NFL and Rugby… maybe even LaCrosse, even though there are some ladies teams there…

It’s also the day *after* Groundhogs day and Candlemas…both of which come on the same day… and today’s program carries the key to why it’s bad news if the groundhog sees his shadow – which had always been a mystery to me.  Now I know… and can explain it to others… Always something valuable to garrulous old folks. (J)

Reading through what passes for news these day as Congress (and particularly the Democrat Leadership) seems to have been thrown into a tizzy over the MA Senate race that was such an upset.  One would have thought the Hoover Dam had been moved to Chappaquiddick and developed a crack that is about to inundate the Cape.  It’s only politics folks… and sometimes there are surprises… on all sides of the aisle. Just like the game between the Saints and whoever else.

Well, I’m not much up to manufacturing the news today… so I’ll just retire to the sidelines and let those who have more words (and space) to waste.  You’ll just have to untangle it yourself. I’m not feelin’ up to it.

            Cordially, IN HIM

Mr. Anonymous --

I'm really glad to have the opportunity to communicate with you and tell you how pleased I am you have taken the time to write to me.

May I say also I would be happy to communicate with you about ideas to which you are willing to attach your real name. I'm always open to your opinion and reasonable discussion. But to hide behind 'Anonymous' is rather like trying to speak through someone else's keyhole without knocking on the door. You know space on Blogspot is open to everyone. People might have more trust in your integrity if you used your own ID -- as it is you are sort of "stealing" from the effort and resources of those who back this program. But there are those kinds of people in the world. I just wonder if you've considered that.

Have a good day Mr. Anonymous, come back when you muster up the courage to use your own identity.

Cordially,

Jack Buttram
