VEEPS EXCHANGE TV SHOTS -- Just A Minute Radio for Friday Feb. 19, 2010

Howdy Folks… it’s weekend time again.

Some folks seem to live just from weekend to weekend… I don’t think that’s healthy.  I know when I was still in elementary and Jr. High school I would go home on Friday evenings with great expectations. I would *do* my homework and have great joy in being free to play or work with Dad… or even ice-skate – I wasn’t very good…but it was very cold… which meant you didn’t have to be very good very long… you could go sit by the fire if some of the grownups would make room for you.

But it just doesn’t seem cold enough to ice-skate now… at least … well, maybe this winter has come closer to those I remember from pre-teen years.  I do recall the street cars had a very difficult time negotiating the hills… and keeping the trolley line up there in the right place collecting power.  I think ice storms were the bane of trolley car conductors or operators.  In Roanoke we didn’t have a lot of trolleys… but they had to carry a load of sand for traction and might run out before a wet or icy day was over.

As cold as I remember it being… I don’t see how I survived it…Maybe I just feel the cold in my bones more now… but I know the ponds don’t seem to freeze over like they did then.  I blame it on Global Warming and Al Gore’s book!  Well… *somebody’s* got to carry the world on their shoulders – and he seems to want the job.

Today’s script and program deal with the difficulties of being VP… so I know you’ll want to hear it – and maybe even express an opinion.  But this year everyone’s writing hand seems to be slowed down. (J)  So… let me just wish you a pleasant weekend.  Be sure to gather all the good news you can from the Preacher whose church you attend… and if you can’t make it… there’s always good news in the Bible… But you have to read it… it doesn’t come to you automatically. (J).

God bless  you and your family – have a wonderful, God honoring time!

            Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

VEEPS EXCHANGE TV SHOTS

Just a Minute: -- Dick Cheney and Joe Biden appeared on a pair of TV shows last weekend.  The Republic survived a weekend of dueling Vice Presidents.  On ABC's "This Week," Cheney asked some telling questions about Mr.  Obama’s counterterrorism policy – particularly about the Christmas, or “Underwear” bomber’s arrest and interrogation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Biden was sent by Mr. Obama over to NBC to do battle on "Meet the Press" as a counterweight to Mr. Cheney.  In general, he succeeded with his usual good humor, raised eyebrows, and his ready tactic of snatching credit to stash in Mr. Obama’s success portfolio.  He did find the Obama Administration’s drone attacks particularly praiseworthy.  Just noting The President failed to take note of just when the policy was begun.

You’ve heard, of course, what imitation becomes the sincerest from of.  -- It’s just not a common anti-terrorist weapon in fighting what amounts to two wars.  Indeed it was Ronald Reagan who said a great deal can be accomplished if one’s not too worried about who gets the credit.
