Howdy—
It’s been a hot week in ‘
Perhaps it’s the sad song Obama’s singing. Second verse… same as the first. This week he threw over the side Jim Johnson who has been favored by the Democrats and was part of the VP search team until it turned out he had a sweetheart deal from Countrywide – biggest of the sub-prime lenders who Barak himself had singled out as being part of the reason for the housing melt down. Now it turns out he’s described as someone only “tangentially related” to the campaign… sort of like Father Pfleger… or Jeremiah Wright who “Is not the same man who married us or baptized our children” and where Obama no longer attends church.
Others in that long and wearying line of “Hardly Known’s” are terrorist bomber William Ayers… Tony Rezko – land baron in the
Well… where the bodies are buried there the BIG BIRDIES gather together. In another ten weeks or so the Conventions will be here and we’ll toddle down the home stretch… Can’t come too soon for me.

“JUST A MINUTE”
SINGING SAD WORDS
Just A Minute – An old Irish ballad from the Civil War era -- “Johnnie We Hardly Knew Ye…” wafts across The Potomac these days. The refrain lingers along the campaign trail and grows stronger day by day.
The lyric began with Reverend Jeremiah Wright, a “friend and mentor” for 20 plus years, but now beyond the pale. Most recently added is former Fannie Mae CEO, Jim Jordan, – charged with vetting the V.P. vettors – but suddenly tossed over the side when his cozy relationship with Countrywide – biggest sub-prime lender and former Obama target -- was revealed. Now described as “only tangentially related” to the Obama campaign.
What about Father Michael Pfleger, and former terrorist bomber William Ayers? Is there a prevailing pattern of bad judgment here? And Eric Holder, also among Mr. Obama's veep vetters. Under Bill Clinton’s Justice Department, he played a role in the Marc Rich pardon.
Oh yes, these are people, Obama wants to remind us he, ‘hardly knew.’
