EDITOR TYRRELL SAYS: "IT'S THE LIBERAL'S AUTOPSY" - Just A Minute Radio for Monday 101206

I heard a lady coming into church last evening, wrapped in a coat to shield her from the ‘blustering wind’ even though the sun was just setting – and she said: “It’s feeling like Christmas out there!” – which I take to be a good thing.

My metaphor for this season is ‘whirlpool’ – as the events to which one must go come closer together – and the tasks one feels the absolute obligation to take on grow in number – things seem to whirl and whirl faster and faster until it’s Christmas Eve and you don’t have a whole bunch taken care of. It’s VORTEX TIME!

My wife and I were getting way ahead of the game last week earlier getting the pre-lit Christmas tree out of storage and all that… only to find that one – maybe two – strings of the ‘pre’ lights weren’t lighting any more. That presents a technological challenge…

But not to me of course… I’m a licensed Ham radio operator… Extra Class… and a General RadioTelephoneOperator’s license to boot… besides that a bunch of semester hours under the tutelage of an old friend who taught me all he knew (and more) that’s the part I couldn’t absorb, about antennas, and AC vectors in directional array design and a whole bunch of stuff I can’t even remember and used only seldom… and I can’t even figure out how these itty – bitty lights work… so…

We hi ourselves off to one of the major hardware stores that sell *EVERYTHING* EXCEPT the kind of Christmas tree lights we need!. Those have been sold out for more than a week and it’s only the 4th of December… Santa hasn’t even hoof-shooed the reindeer yet!  I saw one Christmas tree that was marked $799.00 plus tax…. And I find out the itty-bitty bulbs DO have a limited life span.  (Something we didn’t take into account when forking out a BUNCH of money several years ago… to *save* having to buy a fresh new tree and take it out of existence in the cozy Christmas Tree farm…which we felt bad about…

Now I’m torn between what I thought was being frugal in the long run to being wondering what I’m doing in the short run.

Oh well… Tis the Season to be jolly… We’ll go pick some holly from our own hedges…. It won’t cost a thing except a few scratches. J J J  HO HO HO!

            More later…

“JUST A MINUTE”

EDITOR TYRRELL SAYS: “IT’S THE LIBERALS AUTOPSY.”

Just a Minute: R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. is the Editor in Chief of the American Spectator – and last week pronounced: “As a political movement liberalism is now…R.I.P.” He explains: “… heirs of the New Deal are down to around 20% of the electorate.” He awards Conservatives 42 percent and says in recent election the independents, come in at 29 percent.

In his Wall Street Journal article he calls John Kennedy’s oratory soaring but commencing a definitive “overreaching” that lead to Lyndon’s Johnson’s catastrophic War on Poverty.  He says now we have Mr. Obama’s Chant for Change submerging us under the crushing debt of Obama-Care, Bail-Outs and Too Big to Fail  -- triggering for our Great Grandchildren a mountain of debt -- unless we gain the upper hand.

Winding up Mr. Tyrrell concludes: “They do not have the numbers. They do not have the policies. They have 23 seats in the Senate to defend in 2012 (against the Republicans' 10) and Republican control of state houses and legislatures will give them even more seats in the future.”

          Bravo!
