Good Christmas Morning, Afternoon or Evening to you!
Have things been hectic around your house… still are you say? Well, that seems to be fairly common among a lot of households from young to old. But if you just hang on, be patient and good natured… you will survive – the good china may not… but you will. (J)
Today reminds me of one of the best lines from literature – at least I think so… “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…” Opening lines from “Tale of Two Cities” by Charles Dickens. I copied it from Google… and this is what I got:
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it ws the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness; it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair; we had everything before us, we had nothing before us; we were all going directly to Heaven, we were all going the other way."
For my money – it seems a pretty accurate summing up what has passed since American ‘crossed the Rubicon’ and embarked on the year of OBAMA. I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything like it before – and I feel totally insufficient to make intelligent guesses as to the future. I don’t feel confident – but neither do I feel despair. I am concerned for our Country – but then we knew it wouldn’t last forever didn’t we. Now we await to see how events unfold.
I’ve never been through a Tornado… but I know it must be just about totally impossible to tell which way you’re going when snatched up into the vortex. Frankly… that would be my primary feeling if it were not for my faith in Christ Jesus and His testimony and truth recorded in the Bible. I’m fully convinced of the evidence in the Bible itself as to its reliability and accuracy. I also know in many areas the Bible is beyond my understanding, but still it is a record of demonstrable and objective truth – nothing else compares with it and with the witness of the Spirit of God which is revealed there. At this crucial time…that’s the record and anchor of the soul that keeps me upright and gives life meaning. So…I’m looking to the future with confidence and faith. Faith in God, and confidence that Christ is the Messiah and Saviour of our souls. I see no other acceptable or reasonable conclusion.
That sounds awfully heavy for Christmas, but from all I can discern the evidence is overwhelming and it is a great gift from our Heavenly Father. Those who scoff will just have to scoff to themselves. I’m not joining them!
May the Lord’s richest blessings of Family, Friends and most of all Faith in Christ comfort and sustain you this Christmas Day.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack and Barbara

“JUST A MINUTE”
A CRITICAL TIME – FULLNESS – NOW
JACK: Just a Minute: Last year we talked about
BB: Rite, Mr. Jack.
MizP: I member tha-ut – they caut th Hessians by surprise at
Homer: That-ut turned th’ tide tha-ut was a-goin against Gen.
Jack: It was a critical moment. And we’re going through another one – right now with the events going on in our country today… the very best thing we can do is pray for HIS will to be manifest.
MizP: Thas a good idea, Mr. Jack.
JACK: And I just want to remind you of this from the Bible which tells what we’re celebrating today… it’s found in the Epistle to the Galatians – those believers in Christ as Savior in the first century. Chapter 4 verses 4 and 5
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
That’s why we celebrate the remembrance of Christ coming to the earth making salvation possible for all who will believe in Him.
From all of us here, our fervent wishes for a Blessed Christmas, remembering Jesus’ birth.
