Jack: Just a Minute, Miz Pearl -- Do you know what today is?
MizP: Ah do, Mr. Jack – Hit’s Armistice Day.
BB: You’re a-datin’ yoursef answerin’ like tha-ut.
MizP: At’s OK… A’m happy wif ever year an ever wrinkle…
Homer: Why cawl hit Armistice Day, Miz P?
MizP: Oh Homer, if’n youd jist thank about hit a bit you’d know.
Homer: Well… Ah’m a thankin….
BB: Homer – t’day is th’ day they signed th’ Armistice.
MizP: You ‘member in school they tawked ‘bout th’ waw ta' end all waw’s?
Homer: Um… sorta.
BB: Hit was th’ end of th’ waw in Urop… s’posed ta' be no mo waws…
MizP: But the ink was hardly dried ‘til they was secrutly buyin’ mo bullets.
BB: Jist ‘member… they signed th’ Armistice at the 11th hour on th’ 11th day on th’ 11th month.
Homer: Oh… THAT armistice.
Jack: I remember Veterans selling little red “poppy” flowers.
BB: Tha-ut was ta' hep th wounded Vetruns of Worl Waw one …
MizP: Follered in jist 23 years by Worl Waw Two. --
BB: Oh – won’t that a shame.
Jack: What we *really* want to do is to express our thanks for those who are willing to defend our nation.
MizP: Ah thank so too… but I kinda like th’ ole way… of honoring those who made the sacrifice back there in 1918 an befo.
Homer: Ah know -- Ahm a vetrun… but ah kinder like th’ histry of cawling hit Armistice Day… souns more peaceful.
BB: An fer gooness sake… peace is whut we needs.
MizP: But NOT at enny price. That-leads to sellin’ out ta' th enemy.
Jack: Well, you’re right Miz Pearl. Perhaps as we go off today we can each take a moment to ourselves and thank the Lord for preserving our nation and the freedoms we enjoy.
BB: Yessir… that there’s shore whut we needs ta' do.
