Hello Again… it’s Monday…and we’re lighter by one Czar –
I’ve never seen it happen quite that fast. Friday I saw the 6 PM News All Stars predict with finality “Green Jobs Czar” Van Jones would be gone by Tuesday when Congress comes back into session.
Turns out Sunday, the White House issued the briefest of statements that Mr. Van Jones had resigned. Bob Gibbs did not add the usual perfunctory statement that the President regretted his going and wished him well in his further career. At least that’s the text I saw – or actually didn’t see.
All of that to say: Mr. Van Jones has accomplished some of the oddest behavior in
Given that appointing Czars is going to have rough sledding through the rest of the Obama term… and become campaign fodder for next year. It’s not particularly surprising that the action was taken. Maybe it’ll put some SLOW DOWN signs along the ObamaBahn. We’ll see.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”
HOW’S THAT AGAIN?
Just A Minute – Last Friday evening, I saw a TV panel predict Green Czar Van Jones would be gone by Tuesday. They were wrong. He was gone by Sunday- obfuscated in a cloud of self-justification.
Mr. Jones’ resignation came in the wake of describing Republican critics by using a word we don’t permit on the air, or in polite company -- as George Bush and Dick Cheney also have discovered.
Journal columnist, Peggy Noonan, has described Obama’s staffers and appointees as triumphalists trying to become consequential. They’ve been “overpraised” by their buttery buds in the media. They’re seldom criticized. If this week he’d say,”I made a mistake.” He’d make news – but with him that seldom happens. No one sincerely expects humility at this point -- he’ll go on being “cool” – and his cool is on the dark side of being cold. He’s not restraining emotions they’re just not there. The solid center of voters don’t trust him, in fact are worried and alarmed as the polls reveal.
As his campaign (last year) called for – “Change is in the air.”
