STARTLING PREDICTION IN NEW YORK TIMES -- For Just A Minute Radio on Monday 120206

Often it seems ‘huge’ stories come blasting across the news wires at unpredictable times.

In this case most weekend papers have to put their Sunday tabloids ‘to bed’ earlier in the week than on the Saturday or Sunday. So Thursday this story began to cross the wires and leak out into the general news reading population.

It’s the news of impending war.

No one has been able to this point to dissuade Iran from proceeding with its development of nuclear weapons. It’s made all its neighbors jittery – and word in our newsroom is most of Arab league nations are anxious to have Iran drop its plans for nuclear weapons.

Israel is the most threatened of course because of the heated rhetoric unleashed by the their religious leaders – who often do not seem to be able to tell one end of a gun from the other – or the have been so stirred up emotionally it’s like stopping a two mile coal train coming down the grade from West Virginia… it takes time, energy and understanding. It’s not hard to see why neighboring nations who do NOT have their fingers on the red buttons are jittery. The Iranian spokes people seem to revel in making the most bluster they can (often on Friday afternoons) and everyone near and far fears they will act irresponsibly – or cut loose ‘the dogs of war.’

So that’s why the alarm bells are going off across Europe and even in this country. One never knows just when an overenthusiastic, stirred up official might touch off a powder keg in the Middle East.  It’s also the kind of threat the United Nations are supposed to damp down and create ways for the ‘rogue’ nations to ‘save face.’ But since much of this negotiating goes on behind closed doors and without knowing just who is proposing what, so we just have to wait (AND PRAY.)

That last piece of advice is the most important of all… once more we come to a brink where the Lord is in control – and we must leave the progression or non-progression in HIS hands. Once more I suggest you re-read the account of the Old Testament prophet Daniel, speaking the truth in power to the King who was also his prison-maker.  Our need is to commit ALL these troubling events to the Lord who alone is able to calm the state of affairs… or to call it to an end as foretold in the Biblical scriptures.

We’ll be looking forward to meeting you whenever the Lord makes HIS will known.  That will be GLORY – and vindicate in victory all that has gone before.

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

STARTLING PREDICTION BY THE NEW YORK TIMES

Just a Minute: Over the weekend the New York Times magazine made a startling prediction -- Israel will attack Iran in 2012. Because I’ve often suggested prayer to our audience – which includes a lot of born-again, Bible believing Christians who may not have access to this story – I decided to call it to your attention.

Joel C. Rosenberg, a Jewish newsman and Christian pastor who has written for WORLD magazine originating in Asheville, is a source for this same information and I wanted to pass it along. Here is part of his posting:

The New York Times magazine on Sunday published a critically important story by Israeli journalist Ronen Bergman, one of the most respected Israeli journalists following the Iran story over several decades. It is headlined: “Will Israel Attack Iran?"  -- Bergman's conclusion: "After speaking with many senior Israeli leaders and chiefs of the military and the intelligence, I have come to believe that Israel will indeed strike Iran in 2012."

This goes beyond simple quoting another source; I thought it extraordinary enough you might want to pray over it.
