IS THIS MEETING REALLY NECCESSARY? -- for Just A Minute Radio on Tuesday 120207

OK… a little break from the wars and we’re back on the battlefield.

Mr. Newt seems to be a bit contradictory – but I chalk it up to difficult circumstances. He missed getting on the ballot in Virginia – and ought to have known better. And I think the same thing prevails in Missouri – but also they have additional problems.  And in addition Gov. Perry was apparently caught off guard on the Virginia question of getting on the ballot. I’d guess this is going to stimulate a clean-up of getting on the ballot in some states. But… it’s in the State’s prerogative to control who may vote in their contests… and states are getting more and more irritated at the Feds and the renegades messing around with “their” territory…. “It’s OUR state and we control and play by  the rules. You have to too!”

Goes back to the ‘good old days’ of I don’t want to play in your yard either!

This has been a really moshed up mess with all these campaigns and messed up voting stuff and all.  We need a coalition of AG’s (Attorney’s General) from the States to lead the way here… not just sit back an chortle. And those who want to run for office need to do diligent research and make sure they meet the requirements while they quit bellyaching and complaining about the rules.  The rules is the rules… and “Don’t tell *ME* what to do! It’s MY state!”  That’s the attitude and unless you want a ball of yarn kind of puzzle to clear up you’d better pay attention to it. We have little enough control over our own playgrounds… so don’t come messin’ ‘round.

I’m just passing along a little red-neck irritation. It’s left over from oh say 1860 or so. (J)…

I really wish we’d get on the stick about cutting down the LENGTH of the Presidential campaigning etc. etc. We’re going to have to insist on setting some standards here that are compatible with good government. It doesn’t make sense to keep pushing the start of the campaigns back and back… First thing you know there will be people standing on the capitol steps on inauguration day declaring their candidacy for the Presidency 4 years hence… (IN fact it may already have happened. Who kept track of how much the Senator from Illinois who ran for the Presidency in 2008 and before – was actually running for being Prez when he should have been paying attention to the job he had in the Senate for Ill?

Well… that’s one for another day.  Let’s everybody take a deep breath. We’ve got a LONG HIKE ahead of us until November 6!  Please pay attention!

Cordially,(and I mean it) IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

IS THIS MEETING REALLY NECESSARY?

Just a Minute: If you’re looking for a strategy meeting which ought to have been scrapped – check this one at the Las Vegas’ Palazzo Hotel held Saturday evening in a nearly empty ballroom. The Washington Post described the campaign as (quote) lackluster.”

The meeting was apparently called by the Gingrich organization to answer a question looming over their campaign. Should he withdraw? His answer was – according to the “Post” -- an “emphatic NO”. Gingrich confirmed it in a meeting with reporters Saturday night after Nevada returns showed him losing to Romney by 20 points down.

This stood in stark contrast to Mr. Gingrich’s self-proclaimed confidence he could go on to win. His viewpoint: (quote) “A vast majority of Republicans across the country are going to want an alternative to a Massachusetts moderate…”

Except for South Carolina the Gingrich crew struggles to raise money; –.the Post story also says the campaign sometimes comes across as (quote)disorganized and unprofessional.”

Last week in Nevada a spat between state and national operatives de-railed a meeting between Gingrich and Nevada’s Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval.
