THE PRESIDENT'S SALACIOUS EXAMPLE -- Just A Minute Radio for Friday 100507

Goodness there have been some nice days this week…. But sometime a bit wet.

On the political and economic front it’s been positively rowdy.   Well, we shouldn’t treat lightly those things that are very weighty to someone else. No question but this has been a hard week for people in some places on the Globe.  Greece, Thailand, Ireland and the volcanic ash drifting overhead… and people who had money in the stock Market yesterday when it took a 1000 point roller coaster dip.

Not that I’m in that league… but it’s giving everybody the jitters.

We just got our car out of the collision shop for the second time in less than a year.  Fortunately – and we’re very thankful for all that—no one was hurt.  But we’re out a bunch of cash while we wait for the insurance industry to sift us through its sieve.  I appreciate the people who try to help… and I remember those who don’t.  I guess in the long run it all comes out in the “Wash” as I used to hear it said.  Anyway… I’ve heard folks who are strong in their predestination beliefs say – “Boy… I’m glad *that’s* over.  And I echo the sentiment.

However… we are better off looking deeply into the Scriptures and seeing what God has for us.  The Bible is a most important – and interesting book.  It is indeed like no other.  I remember my mother getting the two of us together,  my brother and I, and reading us stories from Hurlbert’s Bible stories for the young and old… I really enjoy thinking back on those days.

These days are full of activities and blessings… and we’re seeing some old friends as they return to Greenville and places of remembrance to celebrate weddings…and graduations and even birthdays…

We also remember those who have sick folks to care for and pray for them too – and wish them well.  We’re all pilgrims on this path and of looking to the Lord Jesus… and we recall the phrases in the old hymns… there is no night there.

Nice to be with you today… Lord willing we’ll be back Monday.

            Cordially – IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

THE PRESIDENT’S SALACIOUS EXAMPLE

Just a Minute: -- In the middle of an op-ed page, in a newspaper with America’s largest circulation, stands a stark suggestion: Barack Obama should lead by example. – What a simple, straightforward piece of advice.

The writer described President Obama’s weekend talk to the University of Michigan’s graduating class which was aimed squarely at his political targets, saying he wanted to deal with the “basic level of civility in our public debate.” The President’s words were supposed to call a halt to “vilification and over-the-top rhetoric” but in a presidentially authorized fund-raising letter, he excoriates conservatives as “reptiles” and “fire-breathing tea-party nut jobs.”

That’s language attempting to foster compromise and mutual understanding?  What about calling Minority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell “cynical and deceptive”; that’s supposed to make your opponent easier to chat with?

Mr. Obama knows better.  He needs a bar of soap and a brush – he’s already got the mouth.
