HOW IS IT DOWN THERE IN THE HOLE? - Just A Minute Radio for Monday March 08, 2010

            Howdy Folks… it’s MONDAY!

And we’re little by little trying to work our way out of the gremlin dug hole – and make a change to a new domain name etc. etc… stuff I don’t understand and probably will never grasp all the necessary details.  I’ve seen people far sharper in this electronics mess than I get mixed up and tied up.  While little children seem to play with computers like baby rattles and master even intricate lash-ups that would cross an electrical engineer’s eyes.

But enough of complaining… we’re going to hear enough of that in the next two weeks to make us wish we could fast forward till November.

As I say we’re trying to tease out some of the complicated kinks… and break the chain of confusion that seems to cloud us here on the Caroliner Line… we hope to have a better connection established with the folks at Playfair so we’ll get a more timely topics kind of reading on what folks are thinking and doing at the ‘grass-roots’ level.

Speaking of grass roots… I’ve not heard Miz Nancy Pelosi say one word recently about “Astro-Turf” – Back at the beginning of the Tea Party parties… some smart body on the Speaker’s payroll thought that up as a demeaning lable for the grass roots folks… giving the idea that the very idea of lots of people coming to Washington to protest – or buying books or running for President … all of that stuff was being put out by ‘spacy’ ( that is to say ‘airhead’ ) kinda folks.  But now that they have seen them in the flesh… and talked to them on the phone and looked at the stacks and stacks of e-mail etc. in their mail rooms… Opinions have changed.

Madam Pelosi hasn’t been so dismissive of the Tea Party since a bunch of House Members on both sides have decided this would be a good year to bow out.

Perhaps we can look forward to a robust growing season this year and find us some Congresspeople… new models with backbones would be nice.

I must not go on lest I overstay our welcome… but we welcome all of you who are rekindling interest in Grass Roots… otherwise known as Astro-Turf Terminal… otherwise known as the end of the line for the ‘gamers’ who just want to see what can be squeezed out of the riders on the Turnip Wagon.

            Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

HOW IS IT DOWN THERE IN THE  HOLE?

Just a Minute: -- Topic today the President’s health care push  -- Peggy Noonan, says Americans have “grown tired of standing close to a disaster” – her description of George Bush’s Presidency and says the country’s now souring on Mr. Obama.

Then the credibility gap? Recall Presidential promises for C-span to hold budget discussions in plain view? – Didn’t happen. Now the President ‘demands’ Congress vote "up or down".  But people have quit believing him – especially when he says he’ll cut the deficit by a trillion dollars.  All they see is the 787 billion bailout that hasn’t done squat -- and dispenses multi-million dollar bonuses. .

Ms Noonan quotes another turncoat, David Gergen, who’s long worked both sides of the political street. Gergen asked the  Financial Times a while back  "How many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb? Only one -- but the lightbulb has to want to change.”  Peggy’s says (quote) “I don't think [The President] wants to make any changes."

A final question – “Does anyone believe this?”  The Tea Party crowd bellows back a huge “NO!”

So what’s the answer? …   It’s Monday folks… another long tortuous week.
