Hello on a Monday once again….
With all the news in the air it’s difficult to keep on track. Mr. President Obama visited the Pyramids in
Hard to keep up with all that.
Then locally we had a big headline piece in the paper by former Governor and former Education Secy’ Dick Riley (his firm drafted and filed my Aunt Lucy’s Last Will and Testament – with which we had some problems – but I guess lots of people do) that told us the things we must do (about 13 times by my count) in the space of 800 words or so.
We continue to get a heavy dose of what we ‘must do’ now that we have nearly 20 Czars—the most recent to tell businessmen how much they may pay their employees – and the auto companies what kind of cars they must build. But then I guess they’ve been doing that already and think because we haven’t complained we’re OK with it.
So then GM sells the Hummer brand to China – but says they (former GM exec) will still run it in the States… meanwhile the Japanese car companies go right on with their sales and promotions etc… while the Unions stand around first on one foot and then the other waiting until the plants close or open or whatever.
When will things get back to normal? If you remember some of the pictures from Buchenwald… that’s what happened to a lot of people waiting around until government ‘solved the problem’ – only government turn out to be real good at that… People do… but not government – they tend to become the problem.
Oh – and that reminds me -- California got to install a new Californian in the Capitol… statuary Hall – former President Reagan … Arnold didn’t make it. Perhaps he wasn’t statuesque enough.
Hope you had a good weekend – we’re glad to have you back here with us.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack

Sunday’s paper carried former Governor Dick Riley’s piece headlined - “We must do schools differently…” but he omitted home schooling, Charter Schools, and some atrociously high supervisor salaries in the State. He used the phrase “we must” more than a dozen times but gave only vague generalities. That’s government speak – the expansionist talk which flowered under
Have we totally lost our way? -- taken leave of our commonsense? Do we really believe we can spend our way out of debt? It didn’t work for FDR or Lehman Brothers.
Folks… take a lesson from the
Somebody sound the alarm bell -- Nothing much good is going to happen until we roll up our sleeves, kick out the rascals and do it ourselves!
