HOW CAN WE FIGHT THIS HORRIBLE WRONG? - Just a Minute Radio for Friday 06-05-09

            Howdy on a Friday.  It’s been long enough getting here…but we can use the rain I’m sure.

 

            With the President overseas – NOT in Israel – and coming back through France to remember the thousands of American service personnel buried there – we are reminded, whether *he* does so or not – of the sacrifices of those who have gone on before. We are not particularly reminded of his continued going overseas to cast aspersions on his own country – which in fact magnifies the misgivings many of us have about his being really naturally born in America. His popularity remains high although, bearing in mind what the poet says that: “fame is but a slow decay” —and “even this shall pass away.”

 

            It would probably be wise Mr. President – if you’re inclined to take advice at all – to save some of your fame and thus far good fortune for a less fortuitous time. But that is the kind of advice that either gets the messenger killed, or at least banished – while the advice winds up in the discard pile.

 

            Nonetheless – this battle for morality and right vs. wrong has been with us down through the centuries and will most likely be here until the end. The President may have won media accolades and county-fair blue ribbons for his platform delivery – but there’s an old country saying among the dirt farmers of America that “sayin’ hit don’t git the corn planted.” That remains as true today as when it first came hot off the blacksmith’s forge. Speechmaking is a fine talent – but in today’s world it lives in abundance, while duty and doing often stand idly by.

 

            Anyway – that’s a good thought to carry with you through the weekend. Have a good one. We’ll look for you here on Monday – that’s a promise!

JUST A MINUTE – Here’s how you can take action to wipe out abortions.

The District of Columbia has the highest abortion rate in the Nation.  Planned Parenthood reports Half of all pregnancies in the District end in abortion – it’s the highest in the country and here’s what you can do.

Pro-life members of Congress next week are planning speeches this coming week in the House of Representatives. It’s an effort to kick start holding back our tax dollars from going to Washington to fund abortions. You can call Members of Congress and ask them to cut that portion of the budget. Ask your representatives as well as members of your family in other districts – to invest a little time and money – in saving lives of the unborn in the District of Columbia.
