JAM notice posted for Thursday 4/3/08 -- St. Barak the Theologian

PROMO LINE: Senator Obama has launched himself into the theological world
expounding over the weekend and cherry picking scripture to his own purpose.
Listen to JUST A MINUTE at (time) today and get the details of the
mainstream media's rather juvenile accolades. The contest gets more
interesting here at 94.5 on the FM dial.

Here's today's script:

"JUST A MINUTE" - MESSIANIC COMPLEX

Just A Minute – The media now call Senator Obama "St. Barak" since he's stepped into the theological realm defending 'same sex' marriage at a weekend rally saying he'd rather rely on the Sermon on the Mount than (quote) "…an obscure passage from [the book of] Romans." -- Possibly it wouldn't be so obscure if he read it more often than he apparently attends Sunday services under Jeremiah Wright.
CBS's Harry Smith sounded like a teenage groupie on the April 1 Early Show: "Obama's rock star status is reaching historic levels." Time's Joe Klein likened the Chicago pol to Martin Luther, Jonas Salk and Nelson Mandela: New York Times, columnist Roger Cohen got angry with someone poking gentle fun at the size of Obama's ears. Cohen insisted big ears are an asset. Newsweek's Eleanor Clift announced on the McLaughlin Group: "… I can't overlook the fact that Barack Obama is the greatest candidate of my lifetime. The Sisterhood may be the Sisterhood…but Obama is the Man."

Do you think that the media is all over Barak because he is the most articulate and likable extreme liberal?

I've heard it said by media people that Mrs. Clinton's 'negatives' are so high and her 'positives' so low because a) she's been around a long time and people just don't like her, and b) Obama is a fresh (and thus far untried) entity. This was largely the case when Jimmy Carter was elected. The country was fed up with Nixon/Ford and wanted a change... JC was an untried... (you get the picture.)

It bears out what I've contended -- tongue in cheek -- for years: this is the reason we have Democrats, to remind us why we vote Republicans. 'Earmark' Repubs are ruining the picture. The PIG BOOK released today in DC shows the top three earmarkers are all members of the GOP.

Sorry 'bout that...
