HOW LONG CAN WE LOOK THE OTHER WAY? Just A Minute Radio for Friday 100604

Good Day Mate….HIT’S FRIDAY – as we say in Yancey County

And this week has been, and still is most active.  I’m not so sure how *important* some of the political news is. It’s kind of like the papers that are stuffed around breakable things in a big box… lots of stuff to pull out, examine and throw away… but what do you do with all that paper… Good thing we got a BIG trash can.

It’s just my somewhat confused way of wading through a field of weeds to try and find a rake you left lying on the ground.  Then it comes up and knocks you in the noggin.  That’s a hard way to find something – but effective.  Tends to make you want to remember things more directly in the future.

I’m just amazed at how quickly data I put in my mental card file gets misplaced.  It’s like the left hand puts it there and the right hand comes along and moves it somewhere else. (Left hand doesn’t let the right hand know?)  How does it work so fast… and how does the memory just dump itself out… especially when you’re looking someone squarely in the eye and have forgotten his name… although you’ve worked with him for 20 years.

Well.. that’s a convoluted mess… but it’s accurate for the record of what I think has been accomplished this week on my watch…perhaps yours has been more productive… I hope so.  We had a grandson graduate from HS this week… and that was fun… but sort of confusing… As a Grandpa… I look at the young people and realize how much “out of it” I am…but my wife keeps telling me … ‘don’t make so much of it… after all how old are you after all…’ and I agree she’s right… it’s just aggravating. I feel like someone has purloined my address box.  But it’ll show up I suppose.

Well… Have a good week end.  They seem to be getting hotter now.  But I found this week if you carry an umbrella… it’s just as useful in the sunshine as rain… You’re carrying your shade with you!  Think of it that way and it’s hardly a burden at all. (J)

            Have a blessed weekend…

“JUST A MINUTE”

HOW LONG CAN WE LOOK THE OTHER WAY?

Just a Minute: -- This news turns my stomach. I’m currently ignoring the massive oil spill and incompetence of our government. I do not mean those stories are not important – they are. But they take us to a very low level in our concern.

Here was the headline I saw: “ABORTED BABY CRIES BEFORE CREMATION” --- I stopped. These words formed slowly in my understanding: (quote) “On June second, 2010, Xinhua, China’s official news agency. crematorium workers in Guangdong Province found an infant crying in a ‘medical waste’ receptacle on its way to being cremated.”

That’s horrible. The child was returned to the hospital and died later that day without any official report provided according to Dr. Reggie Littlejohn, an expert on China’s “One Child” policy.

What depth of irrationality have we reached when this filters through the Internet with so little notice?

Twenty one other fetuses and aborted babies were found – treated as medical waste – in an East China River.

I plan to have more information on this another day.  Meanwhile – pray.
