            No kidding… I don’t know where those “Global Warming” people are hiding out… where are you when we need you?  The Florida citrus and strawberry owners are wringing their chapped hands and wishing for the Spring.

 

            We really didn’t intend to take a Florida trip this time of year – but that’s how it’s turned out.  We have several family duties to carry out and hope this will be the last one for a while.

 

            Meanwhile, Congress doesn’t take up its duties until a week from today so I suppose we’ll be back for the “festivities.” It appears we are going to get a mandatory ‘buy into this government imposed health bill or else’ piece of legislation – but at least the members have had a long time to read the several thousand pages their co-horts have written for them.

 

            But poor C-Span… my dear old friend and press secretarial buddy, Brian Lamb, founder and moving spirit behind getting C-Span started and funded etc. feels definitely left out in the cold.  Never mind Mr. Obama promised on the campaign trail a dozen or more times there would be no more horse-trading going on inside closed conference room doors.  Those dozen or more promises captured on video have been shattered by dozen or more absolutely closed conference room doors.  Causes me to remember Will Rogers old gag that no one’s wife or property can be considered safe when the legislature is in session.

 

            Cheer up Brian… “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”  I believe you have the American people cheering for you. The tide is bound to turn.

 

            We’ll turn to more subjects selected from the Library this week.  Please join us.

          Just A Minute – Former New York City Mayor and GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani said on Friday both the Fort Hood shootings and the Underwear Bomber; indicate incidents the President and advisors have made a fundamental error in handling the war on terror.  The president has tried to let “political correctness trump reality,” Giuliani said.  “…

          Later the President changed his language and for the first time used the phrase “war on terror.”  As I see it both Presidents used incorrect words – the usual result of hurried and not well thought out language.

          In the earliest days after 9-11, Bush spoke of “bringing the perpetrators to justice.”  That’s what police do, not warriors.  In battle soldiers kill the enemy, not “bring them to justice.”  – As President Bush subsequently found out.  It’s taken President Obama almost a year to apply “war” to what’s been going on at Ft. Hood and on the flight from Amsterdam.

          Imprecise terms lead to being “fundamentally wrong” – as Mayor Giuliani has now noted.  So let’s get it right and let’s get it done.
